We are constantly changing, live in a changing world, and—as Christians—have an ultimate trajectory of change. However, as leaders, we also have a critical role in identifying the need for change, discerning if and how, engaging people in that process, and helping to ensure that change ‘sticks’. Change isn’t for the sake of change—that’s foolish. Nor is change merely the endless pursuit of innovation. Change is wisely responding to how God is leading us and calling us to participate in his mission.

Module Overview

We are constantly changing, live in a changing world, and—as Christians—have an ultimate trajectory of change. However, as leaders, we also have a critical role in identifying the need for change, discerning if and how, engaging people in that process, and helping to ensure that change ‘sticks’. Change isn’t for the sake of change—that’s foolish. Nor is change merely the endless pursuit of innovation. Change is wisely responding to how God is leading us and calling us to participate in his mission. In this module, we'll consider resistors to change, models of change, and leading change.

Core Components in this Module

  1. Prework: (a) When have you experienced change go well? When have you witnessed it go poorly? What was the difference? (b) What is one area of change that you would like to implement in your current team/area of responsibility?
  2. Workshop: The workshop focuses on: (a) Resistors to Change; (b) Models of Change; (c) Leading Change.
  3. Homework: (a) Individual: Identify one upcoming area of change that you need to implement. Work through the stepped-change model in more detail; (b) Team: After working through the grid, discuss with your key team members.
