Warm-Up

- Where are we up to in Jeremiah? What has happened so far?
- Whose idea was it to purchase the field? Why might Jeremiah have been hesitant to purchase it?
Are there any clues to suggest that Jeremiah was hesitant? - Why is it so important to recognise that this purchase was God’s idea?

- Why were there two copies of the deed? Why was one kept in long-term storage?
- What was the long-term future that was promised by God? What was different about this future?
- Verses 16 to 35 provide a whirlwind history of God’s people. How does Jeremiah’s prayer remind us of both: (a) the Lord’s power; and (b) our need for him?
- What is the long-term future that we look forward to? How has that been secured & guaranteed by God?
- How do you think the purchase of the land would have been a reminder of God’s promises to the generations yet to come? How do you think our acts of generous faithfulness can point others to real hope?
