WARM-UP Question
- Why is it often difficult to make commitments? Why are commitments important?
- As Christians, what should influence the commitments we make to others?
READ Hebrews 13:1-6
- How do you express love for our brothers and sisters in Christ? Can you think of an example in which someone - through their love as a brother or sister in Christ - was of great encouragement to you?
- How do you, and we as a community of faith, support those suffering for their faithfulness to Christ?
- What more could we, as individuals and a faith community, do?
- Why is marriage, and respect for marriage, so important for a Christian community?
- What is your attitude towards possessions? Do you feel content? How can we be more generous?
READ Hebrews 13:7-14
- What leads you to drift from the Gospel message? What helps you not to drift?
- How do I view my leaders who teach me the Gospel? How could I support and encourage my leaders (that could involve doing something additional, or doing something less)?
- Identify teachings which may tempt you or others away from the Gospel. How can we be on guard?
- Do you believe that Jesus is forever the same in the words used by he writer
- How do you proclaim the Gospel to others?
READ Hebrews 13:15-21
- Are you truly thankful to God for all he has done? How do you express your gratitude?
- Are you prepared to publicly confess Jesus? Do you confess your relationship to Jesus in situations where you may be mocked or despised?
- Do you believe that through Jesus you have direct access to God? In what way does your life reflect that Jesus has secured your access into God’s presence?
APPLY: How can you grow your commitment to God’s people and the Gospel this week?
Prayer
Gracious and loving God, as we fix our eyes on Jesus, help us to stay committed to your people, help us to stay true the gospel of Jesus Christ and help us to offer our sacrifice of praise and help other where we can. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
