CONNECT:  How will you listen to Jesus this week? 

WARM-UP  Question

1. If you were to go up to someone in Grand Central and ask them what they thought prayer was, what do you think they would say? Does the world pray?
2. Who first taught you how to pray? Can you remember some of the first times you prayed?

READ Luke 11:1-4

1. What do we learn about Jesus in the first verse? How does this affect us and our lives?
2. Why is the Lord’s Prayer so important? Has it been important in your personal prayer life?
3. Jesus begins with the word, ‘Father’. How is this both radical and counter-cultural? How do other cultures or religions address their ‘gods’?
4. What does it mean for God to make his name hallowed?
5. How does God’s kingdom coming affect our lives on a larger and more personal level? How can we be part of God’s kingdom coming on the earth today?
6. Here in Toowoomba in 2019, what does it mean for us to pray ‘give us each day our daily bread’?
7. On what grounds can we ask for forgiveness? What is the relationship between our forgiveness by God and us forgiving others? (See Matthew 18:21-35)
8. Read James 1:13-15. Does God lead us into temptation? Why then do we pray this line?
9. If everyone in your small group was to see your prayer life, how would it shape up to the Lord’s Prayer?

READ Luke 11:5-13

1. What is the great joy and assurance that we have in coming to God in prayer?
2. What does the story of the two friends teach us about prayer? Why should we be persistent in prayer?
3. Are there things in your life that distract or discourage you in your persistent prayer? What can you do to focus and encourage your persistent prayer?
4. What is the gift that God gives us? How does this encourage and spur us on in our walk with him?
   

APPLY: What can you put in place to help your prayer life be ‘in tune’ with Jesus’?
