What are Resurrection Eggs?
Resurrection Eggs are a way to remember the Easter story using plastic eggs that contain different symbols from one of the stories between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
They are designed as a tool to help people recall the events of the Easter Story in a fun, visual way. Resurrection Eggs are appropriate for both children and adults and can be used within the home, church, or school setting.
Children love opening up the eggs to find out what is inside each one. There is of course a twist when you get to the final egg (number 12) and the children realise that is empty on purpose and how this relates to the empty tomb.
The other wonderful thing about these sets is that they draw upon more than just the cross and crucifixion of Jesus - they recall the betrayal of one of his best friends; they draw on Jesus’ loneliness and emotion shown in the Garden when praying; they highlight how he was mocked and endured torture; and they point to the hope and joy we can have in the resurrection.
Why use Resurrection Eggs?
Biblical - each of the items is directly linked to events in the Gospels
Reusable - they can be pulled out and used every year
Educational - they teach of the main events of the Easter story in a visual and tactile way (plus they help with counting, fine motor skills, sorting, ordering, and more)
Eco-friendly - once created, there is no wastage or things that need to be added or refilled each year
Healthy - no calories contained!
