  2. What is the ‘kingdom of God’? What does Jesus mean by saying that it has come near? How is the kingdom both now and not yet?

  4. How is this response different to just a ‘head’ belief system?
  5. What does Jesus say to the fishermen in V17? What does it look like to follow Jesus?
  6. What is the response of the first disciples? How does this show both Jesus’ authority and also human responsibility in discipleship?

READ Mark 1:21-45

  5. If Jesus, who is the Son of God and in the closest relationship with the Father, made time for prayer, what are the implications for us and our prayer life?
  6. What is the priority for Jesus? What is the role of miracles in this?
  7. How should being part of the kingdom of God shape our lives today? How can we demonstrate what it is like being part of the kingdom on our frontlines?

APPLY:  How does Jesus’ authority shape the way that you live?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you so much that your kingdom has come in the coming of King Jesus and will come in all its fulness when he returns. Please help us to be faithful in living as part of the kingdom and faithful in showing off the kingdom benefits in our lives. Through our witness, may people on our frontlines come to repent, believe, and be part of the kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
