I’m really excited that 2018 will be a year of ‘Next Steps’ for St Bart’s. With 2017 having been a really significant year (with the building being completed and so much more), we’re hoping and praying that we will all – as individuals and as a church – press further into our mission to make and mature disciples by seeking to take a next step in prayer, growth, evangelism, and serving.
Starting from next Sunday, we will be highlighting a range of ways that every person can take a ‘next step’. We’re aiming for these to be as practical as possible and accessible to every single person in our church. Every follower of Jesus is in a different place in their walk with God. Taking a ‘next step’ simply helps us to keep growing and stepping in our relationship with God. Some of these ‘next steps’ will be one-offs (i.e., something to be done once), some will be seasonal (e.g., just for Easter), and others will be for the entire year (e.g., reading a chapter of the Bible each day).
To help start things off, we’ll have a launch sermon series from next week. Week-by-week we’ll be considering prayer, growth, evangelism, and serving. To go with this, we’ll have a free devotional available. You can pick up a copy next Sunday that will lead you through four weeks of Bible readings, questions, and prayer. Our Small Groups will of course also follow the weekly topics.
If you would like a copy of the study guide (it will be available on our website as well), please put your name down on the list at the back of the church or email the church office (email@example.com). This will help with printing and we’ll reserve a copy for you.
Please pray that this will be a great theme that will help us serve God through our mission.
