Early Childhood Coordinator
PART-TIME Position (16hrs/week) at St Bart’s Anglican Church, Toowoomba. From Jan 2021.
Over the past decade, St Bart’s has experienced significant growth under God as we seek to make and mature disciples of Jesus, especially within the area of children and families. We’re seeking a part-time Early Childhood Coordinator to help enable our St Bart’s Kids Team in their living out of our mission to make and mature disciples of Jesus. The focus of the role will be to engage and lead key ministries that focus on our youngest disciples and their families. This includes involvement with mainly music, the early year’s component of our Friday Kids Club, and the younger years of St Bart’s Kids on Sundays (e.g., Parent’s Room, Crèche, Pre-School). This is a strategic role within a ministry that has serves almost 200 children under 12 every week.
Purpose of Role
This position will assist and grow the children and families of the Early Years Ministry (EYM) at St Bart’s to fulfil our mission to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for God’s glory; and develop the curriculum of the Early Years Ministry, in coordination with existing Children and Families staff, and develop systems that help to disciple and support parents of children in this age bracket.
ROLE DUTIES
Specific
Develop a well-rounded Early Years Ministry (EYM) program, in consultation with the Children and Families Minister that is fully supportive of St Bart’ Vision, Mission Statement and Vision 2025 Goals;
Recruit, train, equip, and lead volunteer staff to meet the needs of a growing early years ministry;
Provide consistent and effective communication to volunteers;
Manage the EYM spaces and resources;
Manage transition periods for EYM children and families;
Early Years Sunday program - Attend the 9.30AM Sunday Service weekly, and oversee the EYM areas; and develop age-appropriate curriculum for Crèche
mainly music - Develop effective linkages with other churches and manage enquiries and provide advice;
Kindy Kids Club - Develop the Stars Curriculum that align with the Kids Club program and communicate it to team members;
School Partnership – Have some involvement with a chaplaincy partnership with a local Anglican School;
Plan special events that will draw new families with young children to St Bart’s; and
Other duties as assigned by the Children and Families Minister.
Key Skills and Experience
Meet all requirements for Diocesan Safe Ministry Check and ministry licensing;
Mature Christian with a passion for Jesus, making disciples, and proclaiming the Gospel;
An implementer with excellent organisational and communication skills;
A mature leader with experience in leading large and diverse teams and/or departments;
A team player who will inspire and work well with other staff team and volunteers;
On board with vision of St Bart’s (especially that described in VISION 2020);
Tertiary theological or ministry qualifications (or similar).
Prerequisites
Hold a valid current driver’s licence;
Have a current (or eligibility for) Qld Working with Children Check – ‘Blue Card’;
Have a current (or eligibility for) Australian Criminal History Check;
If applicable, have evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder;
Cert III or Cert IV in Ministry (or equivalent) and/or relevant ministry experience.
Position Details
Part-time role (16hrs/week), reporting to Children & Families Minister, Bettrys Lowe.
Holidays: Four weeks per year.
Remuneration as determined and negotiated according to Diocesan scales (which is dependent upon qualifications and experience).
