The Lean Family Featured on ABC News Online

The Lean Family Featured on ABC News Online

It was great this week to read an article on the ABC about the Lean’s recent move to PNG. The article, “Doctor relocates young family from Toowoomba to work in PNG hospital as an expression of faith” is such an encouragement, particularly as we partner in mission with the family. You can read the article here.

Being Prepared to Give an Answer

Being Prepared to Give an Answer

As we looked at the amazing encounter between the Ethiopian and the eunuch in Acts 8 last week, we were challenged to be prepared to be able to give an answer for the hope that we have, in the great hope that we too will be asked questions about what we believe. Being ‘prepared’ can seem intimidating, but here are four simple ideas to get started.

60 Second Book Review: God's Big Picture

60 Second Book Review: God's Big Picture

This morning we heard how Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith, and how Jesus fulfils all of the Old Testament promises. A great book to learn more about this is God’s Big Picture by Vaughan Roberts. Listen below for what Michael had to say about it and you can borrow it now from the St Bart’s Library.

Date Claimer: FOCUS Weekend Away (Friday May 31 - June 2)

I’m really excited that in 2019, we’re inviting everyone to an amazing weekend away at Coolum Beach to focus on God, community, and grow as disciple makers. We’ll have plenty to share in the coming weeks, but please mark these dates in your diary now (if you haven’t already).

What's Coming Up @ St Bart's in 2019?

What's Coming Up @ St Bart's in 2019?

In addition to our theme of Disciple Makers this year (you can read all about it here) and our 2019 calendar, we’ve got some exciting things in store in 2019.

2019: A Year of Disciple Makers

2019: A Year of Disciple Makers

In 2018, our theme focused on everyone taking next steps to grow in maturity as disciples. In 2019, we’re shifting the focus to disciple making! To help us with that, we’ve created a discipleship pathway (Enquiring, Beginning, Growing) that has a step for anyone, be they a sceptic or a long-term follower of Jesus. Part of our hope and plans is to equip every person in our church in the activity of one-one-one discipleship. It’s all part of our mission to make and mature disciples of Jesus for God’s glory.

Baptism Sunday Interviews

It was a great Sunday at all services as we celebrated the baptisms and reaffirmations of people from across all services. At 9.30AM, it was amazing and a great encouragement to witness the baptisms of Ewen and Ethan and hear from them about their faith. To listen to the interview, click below.

Media Award for Bishop Daniel's Interview with the BBC

Media Award for Bishop Daniel's Interview with the BBC

A moving interview with Bishop Daniel Deng Abot, the Bishop of Duk in South Sudan, has won a major broadcasting award in London. The interview was carried out by Mike Wooldridge for the BBC World Service Heart and Soul series. Bishop Daniel (a mission partner and member of St Bart’s along with his family) was one of southern Sudan’s “Lost Boys”. After 15 years in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya, he resettled in Australia with his wife Rachel and served as a priest in Queensland. But, after South Sudan gained independence, he felt called to return to his native homeland where he serves as bishop. Read the article here, and also listen to the interview.
