A great way to invest in our knowledge and understanding of God’s word is through the Ridley Certificate! Hosted on a Tuesday night or in micro-groups throughout the week for six weeks, the Ridley Certificate consists of a number of subjects offered every term here at St Bart’s. These nights are very relaxed and informal. The course material is shown through a video from a lecturer who is an expert in their field. Then, the lecture is discussed in the group.
On the July 28, come and hear how to disciple your kids with intentionality. We will talk about how to develop daily habits that match the rhythms of busy family life; the importance of regular discipleship within a community; and the role a parent/guardian plays in modelling strong discipleship practices in their own life.
Listen to the talk (from George Savvides) and watch other media made available at our FRONTLINE Breakfast for Medical and Allied Health on June 13, 2019.
RE/QUIP is our annual young adults conference for people in their 20s and 30s. The keynotes, workshops, and Q&A sessions focus on proclaim, work, and serve. In 2019, our guest speakers were the Rev’d Dr Tim Foster (Vice Principal of Ridley College, Melbourne), Sharon Cheung (Women and Young Adults Coordinator for the City Bible Forum, Melbourne), Chrissy Ellis (Reconciliation Action Plan Coordinator for the Anglican Church Southern Queensland), and Rian Roux (of RZIM).
With the beginning of our new 1 Thessalonians series, we’re launching “Next Steps this Week” as one place to find all of our weekly resources connected with the sermon. This includes the sermon (audio and transcript), small group questions, the Bible reading, a prayer, other resources, and a family-focused activity. Simply visit nextsteps.stbarts.com.au on your phone, tablet, or computer to access a range of resources. We will of course continue to make printed resources available every week at church, but if you’re online, bookmark the next steps address so that you can readily dip in and out of all of the resources throughout your week.
Thank you to everyone who was part of our prayer night on Monday. It was such a great joy to join together for a meal, pray, and worship together. If you weren't able to make it along, you can download a copy of the prayer booklet in PDF. The booklet contains a range of ideas of how to pray for the life of our church, city, nation, and world. You can also pick up printed copies at church and check out some of the prayer ideas (on cards) near the next steps wall. What a privilege and a joy it is to come before our God who can do immeasurably more than we dare dreamed or imagined for his glory and kingdom!
The Alpha Course is happening again this year at St Bart's beginning at 7PM on Wednesday April 18. Alpha is a 10 week course designed to look into questions we ask ourselves about life. The sessions begin with a dinner and feature a video on a given topic and then leave plenty of time for discussion. Whether you have never heard of Christianity or have been a Christian for years Alpha presents a clear, inspiring, and helpful summary of what Christians believe about life.
This year for Lent we will be taking a closer look at the final stories of Jesus in John's Gospel. Our series (and study guide) is called: "Truth & Glory". This is an opportunity to look closely at the truth of who Jesus is, the purpose of our lives, and the glory of Christ's death and resurrection. Download it for free.
