With the beginning of our new 1 Thessalonians series, we’re launching “Next Steps this Week” as one place to find all of our weekly resources connected with the sermon. This includes the sermon (audio and transcript), small group questions, the Bible reading, a prayer, other resources, and a family-focused activity. Simply visit nextsteps.stbarts.com.au on your phone, tablet, or computer to access a range of resources. We will of course continue to make printed resources available every week at church, but if you’re online, bookmark the next steps address so that you can readily dip in and out of all of the resources throughout your week.
We are really excited to be able to offer two more great Ridley Certificate courses that run over six weeks beginning on October 16. The core subject this time around is Knowing God which looks at questions of who God is and how we can know him. This great subject is being offered at 1:30pm and 7:30pm on Tuesdays. The other subject being offered is 1 Corinthians which is an amazing letter which speaks to us ask much today as it spoke to those in Corinth 2000 years ago. This subject is being offered at 7:30pm on Tuesdays.

First Thessalonians is a letter written by Paul to the Christian community in Thessalonica. This community was one of the first churches planted by Paul (along with Silvanus and Timothy - see the back story in Acts 17), only to quickly experience persecution for following Jesus. In light of this, Paul writes to the community to encourage them to press on amidst persecution, with eager anticipation of Jesus’ return along with a rejoicing in signs of God’s Kingdom already unfolding.
