Register for our Pancake Party

“Shrove Tuesday” has traditionally been the day on which all of the ‘goodies’ were used up in a household in preparation for Lent beginning the next day (i.e., Ash Wednesday). With that in mind, we’re inviting everyone along to a pancake party on Tuesday March 5 from 7-8PM. This is just a great opportunity for fun and to grow closer as community. Come along and bring along your favourite pancake toppings to share with everyone.

Date Claimer: FOCUS Weekend Away (Friday May 31 - June 2)

Date Claimer: FOCUS Weekend Away (Friday May 31 - June 2)

I’m really excited that in 2019, we’re inviting everyone to an amazing weekend away at Coolum Beach to focus on God, community, and grow as disciple makers. We’ll have plenty to share in the coming weeks, but please mark these dates in your diary now (if you haven’t already).

The Browne Family and the Parish of Dalby

The Browne Family and the Parish of Dalby

It is with sadness and excitement that we shared this morning that David and Zoë will be finishing at St Bart’s in June as David takes up the Archbishop's offer to be priest-in-charge at Dalby Anglican. As David and Zoë (along with nominators from Dalby) have prayerfully discerned this move, there has been a strong sense of the Lord’s leading them to this new chapter of ministry. As many will know, David has served at St Bart’s for just over two years at St Bart’s, as part of his curacy (the initial placement and period of training after ordination as Deacon in anticipation of leading a parish in due time).

Commissioning of Staff Team

Commissioning of Staff Team

It was with great joy that we commissioned our staff team at both of our morning services (along with praying for them at the 6PM service). Please pray for all of our team (you can read about them here) as they seek to serve God with their lives at St Bart’s and on all of their front lines.

Welcome Lunch for Newcomers

If you're new to St Bart's, we'd love to invite you to our next welcome lunch on Sunday January 27 (11.30AM-1.00PM). We'll share a delicious meal together and also have a brief opportunity about the life of St Bart's. RSVP's are essential. Please phone the office (07 4636 2922) or email office@stbarts.com.au

Last Opportunity to Order: 2019 Lenten Study Guide

Last Opportunity to Order: 2019 Lenten Study Guide

In 2019, we will be looking at Acts 1-9 to help us prepare to celebrate Easter. Acts records the incredible way in which the first followers of Jesus were so compelled by Jesus’ death and resurrection, that they were convicted to take the Gospel to the World. Through the lens of Acts, we’ll be prepared to celebrate the same Good News and how it compels us to follow Jesus as well. To help us with that, we’re preparing a 13-Week Study Guide that begins on January 14, 2019. Each Day (Monday-Saturday) includes a Bible reading from Acts, a short reflection, some questions, and a prayer. Each week also includes instructions for a family activity.

Working Bee Thanks

Working Bee Thanks

Thank you to everyone who was involved with the working bee on Saturday. The gardens look fantastic and was a tremendous effort by everyone involved. If you would like to be part of the regular gardening team, please contact the church office (office@stbarts.com.au or 4636 2922).

What's Coming Up @ St Bart's in 2019?

What's Coming Up @ St Bart's in 2019?

In addition to our theme of Disciple Makers this year (you can read all about it here) and our 2019 calendar, we’ve got some exciting things in store in 2019.

2019: A Year of Disciple Makers

2019: A Year of Disciple Makers

In 2018, our theme focused on everyone taking next steps to grow in maturity as disciples. In 2019, we’re shifting the focus to disciple making! To help us with that, we’ve created a discipleship pathway (Enquiring, Beginning, Growing) that has a step for anyone, be they a sceptic or a long-term follower of Jesus. Part of our hope and plans is to equip every person in our church in the activity of one-one-one discipleship. It’s all part of our mission to make and mature disciples of Jesus for God’s glory.

St Bart's 2019 Calendar

Well, 2018 is not quite over yet, but our calendar for 2019 is now available. Please do pick up a copy and display it somewhere at home that is handy or download it here. Our theme (which we will have more to say about in the coming weeks), will be a ‘Year of Disciplemakers’. We have some exciting things in store for 2019, here are a few to note (with more info soon):

Christmas Service Times

Christmas Service Times

We'd love you to join us at St Bart's this Christmas as we celebrate God’s amazing gift of Jesus unto us! We will be celebrating two Christmas Eve services (6PM Family Carols and 11PM Traditional Communion) and two Christmas Day services (7.30AM Traditional Communion and 9.30AM Family Carols + Communion). These are always wonderful services together, giving great thanks to Jesus whilst also joyfully anticipating his return. If you haven’t invited anyone yet, it’s not too late!

Card From the Pipers

Our mission liaison person with BCA, Penny Fuelling, received a card this week from the Pipers who are finishing up at Lightning Ridge at the end of the year. It is addressed to all of St Bart’s and reads:

“Thank you for your prayers and support over the years. We really appreciate your emails, letters and visits. It's been lovely to get to know you.  We will miss The Ridge in many ways. Please pray we finish well.  And we will pray for your Christmas outreach. God bless

David Joanne, Daniel, Luke, and Matthew. “

Congratulations to Daniel Rouhead

Congratulations to Daniel Rouhead

Congratulations to The Rev’d Dr Daniel Rouhead who graduated last week with a Master of Ministry (with Distinction)! Congratulations also to Brooke, who supported Daniel all the way. Daniel serves as (honorary) Assistant Minister at St Bart's, along with being a GP, husband, and dad (amongst many other roles!). An absolute stellar achievement, with an especially interesting research project (be sure to ask him).

Only TWO Sleeps until CAROLS!

With only two sleeps until our first night of carols, time is running out to invite a friend. Christmas is all about Good News of Great JOY and it's fast approaching! There’s no better way to get ready than some time of fun, laughing, carols, dressing up (children are welcome to dress up as angels/shepherds) waving glow sticks, and sharing in some delicious refreshments. So please be praying, and come along on Tuesday and Wednesday nights (7-8PM).
