Getting Involved with Carols by Glowstick

Getting Involved with Carols by Glowstick

It’s hard to believe, but our two nights of Carols (Tuesday December 11 and Wednesday December 12) are only a couple of weeks away! We’ve already had a tremendous response to our advertising, however now is the key time to get involved. There are three key ways to get involved.

Baptisms and Confirmations

Baptisms and Confirmations

At St Bart’s, we’re focused together in the making and maturing of disciples of Jesus for God’s glory. That means that we love to see people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, along with continuing to mature in that relationship for their entire lives. Baptism and Confirmation are important public expressions of our trust in Jesus. Whilst we can of course baptise at any time, we will be celebrating with special services on December 2, followed by an opportunity for Confirmation on December 16.

Congratulations Toby and Steph on your Marriage!

Massive congratulation to Toby and Steph who were married yesterday at St Bart’s (members of our 6PM congregation). Please be praying for Toby and Steph as they begin married life together, particularly that Jesus will at the heart of their relationship and that God will be greatly glorified through them. Please also pray that they will have a wonderful time away.

Baptism Sunday

Baptism Sunday

We are inviting adults, who have never been baptised, to do so on December 2. Additionally, if you were baptised as a child and would like the opportunity to publicly confirm the promises made on behalf of you, confirmation is a wonderful opportunity to do so on Sunday, December 16.

Carols by Glow Stick (Now on TWO Nights!)

Carols by Glow Stick (Now on TWO Nights!)

Christmas is all about Good News of Great JOY and it's fast approaching! There’s no better way to get ready than some time of fun, laughing, carols, dressing up (children are welcome to dress up as angels/shepherds) waving glow sticks, and sharing in some delicious refreshments. Now on two nights!

Media Award for Bishop Daniel's Interview with the BBC

Media Award for Bishop Daniel's Interview with the BBC

A moving interview with Bishop Daniel Deng Abot, the Bishop of Duk in South Sudan, has won a major broadcasting award in London. The interview was carried out by Mike Wooldridge for the BBC World Service Heart and Soul series. Bishop Daniel (a mission partner and member of St Bart’s along with his family) was one of southern Sudan’s “Lost Boys”. After 15 years in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya, he resettled in Australia with his wife Rachel and served as a priest in Queensland. But, after South Sudan gained independence, he felt called to return to his native homeland where he serves as bishop. Read the article here, and also listen to the interview.

Death of the Rev'd James Ajak

It is with great sadness but with a certain hope in the Lord that I share that the Rev’d James Ajak passed away this morning. Please join with me in grieving the death of our brother, especially praying for his wife Rebecca and their children (including Grace, who was born three days ago). Please also be praying for the Sudanese community in Toowoomba (along with those further afield), as they grieve the loss of their minister. From October 2-5 (Tuesday to Friday), St Bart's will be hosting a fantastic 'Egyptian Adventures' Holiday Kids Club! Registrations will be open soon, but we still need some more team members to join the already amazing team. In particular, we are seeking people who are interested in running a 1-hr elective in cooking or craft on any of the holiday kids club days. All activities are organised, and it will just involve some preparation and running the session with the kids (other leaders will support). Prayer Night Thanks & Booklet

Prayer Night Thanks & Booklet

Thank you to everyone who was part of our prayer night on Monday. It was such a great joy to join together for a meal, pray, and worship together. If you weren't able to make it along, you can download a copy of the prayer booklet in PDF. The booklet contains a range of ideas of how to pray for the life of our church, city, nation, and world. You can also pick up printed copies at church and check out some of the prayer ideas (on cards) near the next steps wall. What a privilege and a joy it is to come before our God who can do immeasurably more than we dare dreamed or imagined for his glory and kingdom!
