At home, work, study, over a meal with friends or at the playground, is there someone you would love to introduce to Jesus?
It can seem super daunting to bring up faith and coming along to church can seem like a massive leap. The upcoming Public Lecture on Friday 2 August at 7PM is a simple, accessible and deeply engaging event to invite anyone along to. There is a Q&A time, where you can anonymously text in questions, and hot chocolate afterwards.
Whether your friend or colleague is sceptical or indifferent, the topic should spark conversation as Rory Shiner explores Has Australia lost God and would it matter if we did?
Coming along yourself and personally inviting someone to join you is the is the most effective way to invite others.
Here are some simple steps for being invitational:
1. Pray for the person, that God would provide opportunities in conversations, that they would respond, and for your own boldness and courage.
2. Invite them to the event in person. Share about why you are excited about the event. Maybe you could buy a few tickets as a gift to the people you are planning to invite? It’s also good motivation to actually invite them!
3. Follow up with either inviting them to the Facebook event and/or giving them a flyer. Maybe you could share dinner together before coming?
4. Continue praying for the people you invite, that your conversation and the Public Lecture would help them take one step closer to following Jesus.
Whether your invitations are a success or a mixture of rejections, don’t be discouraged. Jesus is with us as we make his name known (Matt 28:20).
