Statement from Bishop Daniel re Flooding in South Sudan (Due Counties)

One of our mission partners, Bishop Daniel (of Duk Diocese, South Sudan), was in contact this week to share of the devastating effects of flooding in Duk Counties. He shared:

As of today, at least more than 500 households in Duk Counties have been affected by creeping waters as a result of heavy torrential rains. Heavy rainfall continue to threaten the lives and livelihoods of many as floodwaters are not expected to recede anytime soon until late November which may highly result to the outbreak of waterborne diseases and other health hazards. This situation if left unattended to will further traumatize the citizenry who are already antagonized by displacement and loss of property which may have a long term  psychological impacts on the population.

Daniel request prayer in the following way:

It is my prayer that those affected by the floods will find the strength to rebuild their shattered lives. We trust that the Lord will console them in their suffering. Let us answer the Lord's call to love one another and support our brothers and sisters in this time of need.

So please be praying for everyone affected and that sufficient support will be received to support the struggling communities. As more information is available, I will also be sure to share it with you.
