At St Bart’s, we’re focused together in the making and maturing of disciples of Jesus for God’s glory. That means that we love to see people come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, along with continuing to mature in that relationship for their entire lives. Baptism and Confirmation are important public expressions of our trust in Jesus. Whilst we can of course baptise at any time, we will be celebrating with special services on December 2, followed by an opportunity for Confirmation on December 16. If you’re interested in either of these, please read the information below and feel free to contact me with any questions that you might have.
Baptism Sunday: December 2. We are inviting adults, who have never been baptised, to do so across our three services on December 2. Jesus asked for his followers to be baptised as a visible and tangible sign to reflect what is happening ‘invisibly’ when you say yes to Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. As we are baptised, it reminds us that we have been washed clean by Jesus and that we are connected together as part of Christ’s worldwide church. Baptism can happen either by a ‘sprinkling’ of water or by full immersion (a drenching!).
Confirmations on December 16. If you were baptised as a child and would like the opportunity to publicly confirm the promises made on your behalf (by your parents), confirmation is a wonderful opportunity to do so. Bishop Cameron will be leading the Confirmation service.
If you are interested in baptism or Confirmation, please note that both will complete the same preparation course over five weeks. If you would like to know more, please speak to me so that we can arrange a time to talk further (email@example.com).
